Nye opdateringer

New updates

We have been updating ABC Analyzer and ABC Viewer the last couple of days. To be honest we’ve had a few more updates than we would’ve liked – but that is how this business works. When we make mistakes we correct them.

We released a new feature update at the beginning of february and this caused some problems to emerge. As soon as we find and identify issues in our critical to our users operations we send out updates to the software! During the past year ABC Softwork has invested in refining the process to eliminate possible problems pre-release to prevent these situations – but sometimes it is a mix of data and operating conditions that cause errors.

We would like to apologize for the inconvenience of frequent updates – but make it clear that we will continue to fix errors that prevent our loyal users (you!) from using our great software.

ABC Analyzer + Excel or Office 2010

When using Excel files with ABC Analyzer it is required to have the right components isntalled. These components are installed automatically along with Office 2007 but the default installation of Office 2010 don’t include these.
It has been confirmed that a full installation of Office 2010 gives ABC Analyzer the possibility to read Excel files. For those cases where a full installation was not made or wasn’t possible; or where Excel isn’t installed we recommend an installation of the package ”2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components” from Microsoft which will give ABC Analyzer access to the components it needs to interact with Excel files. This issue is described in the ABC Analyzer installation guide.

Update trouble caused by browser error

We are currently experiencing some errors in certain web browsers affecting our update process. If you keep getting the update available notice you are probably affected too.

Tests show that some browsers re-download a cached installer instead of downloading the right installation file redirected by the static always-newest-URL. This behaviour occurs even though we’ve specifically ordered no caching of the web page in question. Even deleting the previous version from the web server didn’t resolve the issue.

The only thing that seems to work properly is clearing the cache of the web browser before accepting to download the new version of ABC Analyzer. Please contact your IT dept. for information on how to achieve this on your setup.

Code Access Security Policy Tool (Caspol.exe)

Finally! Microsoft has changed the default security settings for Windows and the .NET platform.

Many of our users wish to run from one single installation shared internally within the company on a common network drive. Normal Windows installations along with Windows Server installations include the functionality to share portions of folder structures – but so far running ABC Analyzer from such a shared folder has been prohibited by the default security policy.

This restriction has been removed in recent security updates and/or service packs. This makes it possible to run all .NET-programs stored on a network share directly without changing the default per-folder settings through the Code Access Security Policy Tool (Caspol.exe).
